We believe in the transformative power of storytelling and the ability of media to inspire positive change.
Last year, the City of San Antonio and Alamo Colleges District approached Key Ideas to discuss making CompassionateUSA a reality. We felt a strong mission alignment with this project. We were honored to have the opportunity to collaborate with such a talented team, including Dr. Eric Castillo, the Chief Diversity, Equity, and inclusion officer at Alamo, and Director of the Peace Center, Migdalia Garcia. The Alamo Colleges team developed the core curriculum, and Key Ideas worked to bring the collective vision of Mayor Nirenberg and the Alamo College District to life.
Our first project was to design and develop the branding for CompassionateUSA, including presenting several logo options and launching the CompassionateUSA Website.
Next, we wrote and produced the script for the CompassionateUSA trailer that Mayor Nirenber presented at the conference of Mayors in January.
We then put our focus on developing six micro-courses on Compassion. Each video offers a significant life skill in the journey towards Compassion, with personal insights from people who are experts in that area.
For this project, we filmed an 8,000-square-foot LED Studio (think Mandalorian). Filming in an LED studio enabled us to shoot six videos in one day and place our host in seemingly different locations nationwide.
Mayor Nirenberg officially announced CompassionateUSA at the US Conference of Mayors, encouraging mayors to join the movement and partner. Watch his speech below:
Working on longer-term projects like CompassionateUSA, telling beautiful stories that have a lasting impact, is truly an honor for us at Key Ideas. We are committed to making a positive difference in communities, especially when tragic events dominate the news cycle.
